Miss Delta: I just wanted to let you know how much I admire you for 'coming out' about your mental health problems. I too suffer from depression, and it sucks. People who don't know anything about it, just don't get it. This past summer (August 2007) I reconnected with my highschool boyfriend, and he proposed. I was on top of the world! When I told him about my problems with depression and the meds I take, it wasn't too long after that I was dumped. He used religion as an excuse. He said I wasn't totally committed to the Lord. He told me if I was completely saved, and accepted the Lord into my heart, the Lord would begin to heal me. Now keep in mind, I found out this 'man' hadn't filed income taxes for 10 plus years, had 5 DUI's, still smoked pot, and lived with his parents (he if 48 years old)
It is now February and I am just beginning to put all this behind me. I am very happy things didn't work out, because someone who judges me and uses religion as an excuse, isn't worthy of my love. Your public admission just validated me! You go on Miss Delta, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you and all of God's blessings to you.

I SUFFER FROM BI-POLAR, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY & OCD.I HAVE TRICOTILOMANIA (I PULL OUT MY HAIR, & COUNT THINGS.) WEIRD HUH??? I ALSO WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT GETTING YOUR MEDS. RIGHT. IT MUST BE HARD BECAUSE ONE MED. CAN MESS UP ANOTHER ONE, LIKE YOUR DIABETIES MED. IT CAN BE A CATCH 22. I ALSO HAVE OSTEOARTHRITIS & JUST HAD CORTIZONE SHOTS IN MY LEFT & RIGHT SACRO JOINTS. THE CORTIZONE MADE MY SUGARS GO NUTS!!! I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED YOU ON TV. I ALSO AM A WOMAN WHO HAS WEIGHT PROBLEMS (HYPO- THYROID) AND HAVE ALWAYS FELT WE HAD ALOT OF THE SAME CONCERNS. I LOVED YOUR CLOTHES THAT YOU DESIGNED.
JUST HANG IN THERE, THINGS WILL GET BETTER. I ADMIRE YOU FOR KNOWING YOU NEEDED THE HELP & WENT OUT & GOT IT...GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

Something you want to know about Delta Burke
I believe Delta's family might have been my next door neighbors when they lived in the country near Doylestown, Pennsylvania in the mid-1950s. My Aunt Ann, who lives in Florida, is the one who told me she thought Delta might have been our neighbor's daughter. Were her parents Bill and Shirley Burke...and did she have older sisters named Sandy and Laurie? They had a little Dauschund nemed Missy.
If true, I would like to send Delta a letter and share my memories of that happy time in my life. They were truly marvelous people.
